I had the pleasure of visiting this Lodge in Newcastle on Monday. The Master Jimmy Wong lives in Hong Kong but travels over for the meetings. That is dedication!

£ 400 was raised for the Chinese Red Cross for the earthquake relief.

On Monday he installed his successor who lives in County Durham, he won't have far to travel.

Afterwards we repaired to China Town at the Palace Gardens a Chinese restaurant. The Banquet was fantastic. About 90 masons were present,of which More than 70 were visitors,

I was able to give greetings
which were heartily reciprocated.

On the first of June we are going
to our BBQ at Morley lodge no,
8320 E.C.

Yours sincerely and fraternally.

W. Bro, Bob Ranson

Dear Jimmy,

On request, I send you some of my activities of my Masonic life in Australia.
I joint the Craft in 1981.

I was initiated on the 28.08.1981 in the Albion Lodge 462 in Melbourne
Passed on the 0.3.02.82 in the Ardmillan Lodge, given to them as a Candidate
And then Raised on the 03.03.82 in the Albion Lodge.

I went through all the Offices and finally Master in the Chair 1993/94
I was for 6 Years there Director of Ceremony and then called up to be again there Master in the Year2004/2005, for there 75 Anniversary. The Lodge handed in there Charter in the Year 2006!

I had joint in the meantime the Bacchus Marsh Lodge 718 and was there Master in the Year 2000/ 2001.

I also joint the Duke of Abercorn Lodge 137 in Bacchus Marsh, and through circumstances in the Lodge, ask to be there Master for the Year 2007/2008 which I accepted. My year will end on the second Tuesday in September, when the new Master will be installed.

So is on the second Tuesday in August my “Last Night” with a small ceremony, where I hand the keys of the Temple to the incoming Master. I also have a Candidate; Br. Ross Coverdale how will be passed to the second Degree. All Degree work has to be done out of your head, no reading is allowed! This is in all Degrees and Orders.

But my Masonic life was a little bit bigger:
1983 I joint the Mark Degree and was Master 1995
1989 I joint the Royal Ark Mariners and went through the offices of being in the Chair 2006
In the some year have joint the Holy Royal Ark Chapter jumped some offices and was M.E.Z in 2001.
In 1992 I became a Member of the Sunshine Preceptory and was Em.Preceptor in February 2003
Not to stop my Masonic interested I become a Member of The Order of the Secret Monitor (OSM)
But this is not the end I become a member at the Royal and Select MASTERS at the Adoniram Council and was holding many offices.
My best time was in the Sunshine Sovereign Rose Croix Chapter 152 at Ardeer. At the 18, 30 and 31Degree I was Most Wise Sovereign in July 2003 and Commander 2005.

But then happened the bad disappointment. I had to have a second open Heart surgery and the Anaesthetic played with my brain. I had to resign in most of the Order and due to my small Pension I had to sell most of my Regalia, some went even to Switzerland.

I am not able to travel between Bacchus Marsh and Melbourne at nights. And so will I be only a Member in Bacchus Marsh Lodges. Where I get often a lift to the Temple which we have know to call a Masonic Hall.

Freemasonry is my life at made me an Australian and saved in many ways my life at forced me to learn the Rituals and is giving me this bond with many Brethren. Which I otherwise would have not met. The are the Family which I have not here in Australia.

With my age (70 years) I look towards my homeland and the Freemasonry over there, then really speaking we are a big Family.
This is my Masonic life and will be until I die!

Wor. Bro. Peter Schäffner Past Grand Standard Bearer until December, then will it be a new Grand Rang. What you put in will come back!

On the 1st December 08, Whilst on holiday in NSW, I was privileged to be admitted to..The Great Lakes Daylight Lodge 994 of the GL of NSW and ACT... I was tested and proved, given a apron and admitted. The ceremony of the day should have been an initiation however the candidate was unable to attend, so the ceremony was carried out as a rehearsal. During the meeting I gave greetings from the Keys, and explained a little of the history of GLBFG. The WM. W. Bro. Don Andrews, reciprocated and bade me to convey his greetings in return. The ceremony was emulation, with a few local variations, and was conducted in good form.

This was my lucky day,for after the ceremony a special Christmas festive board was arranged, to which I was invited. The ladies of the Lodge were in attendance, and had also prepared the meal, and a very fine meal it was ,too. We had a splendid time, and to cap it all, Santa found time from his very busy schedule to make a special visit to us. I had a lovely day and I would like to thank all the members, and their ladies for making me so welcome.

A small world . On the 11th Jan 09 Three past masters of the Keys of Munster met on the circular quay in Sydney, NSW. Bert Anderson (1985) Bill Smith (1993 ) and myself (1984) We had lunch together, and caught up with all the gossip. Photographs will no doubt be sent by Bill or Bert, and a longer explanation. We had a good day.
